GRASP this

Novak has a fascinating idea about a project to collect all the market statistics in order to solve three problems -

- Statistics are too hard to find
- Reports containing statistics are expensive
- Statistics are not normalized

This is absolutely in the scope of open source style community driven project. If implemented this will level the playing field between big vendors (who hire army of research analysts) and small start-ups (who naturally can't afford high priced reports).

We felt the need for this type of project, without that we were just relying on our own data entry (spreadsheet style) and reading feeds from ITFacts.

If anybody is interested in kick-starting this then please drop a note and I am game.

(By the way great job Alex for compiling the stats. I saw Always-On hijacking your posts to fill in their content pile).

I actually have an agreement with AlwaysOn for importing the full-text. I am not against anyone doing that as long as the link back to my site is prominent. Thanks for positive feedback.
